On September 5, 2023, on the eve of the China Arbitration Summit 2023, China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC) hosted the Arbitration Gala of the China Arbitration Week 2023 at the Prince Jun’s Mansion Hotel·Beijing.
In the evening breeze of Beijing's early autumn scenery and under the moonlight and willows of Chinese architectural paintings, nearly 200 renowned heads of arbitration institutions, arbitrators, lawyers, scholars and professionals from the business circle from home and abroad gathered together to discuss essential arbitration matters, enjoy the lively arbitration event and appreciate Chinese culture. The Arbitration Gala was full of distinguished guests and friends.
Wang Chengjie, Vice Chairman and Secretary General of CIETAC, attended the event and delivered a welcome speech. He warmly welcomed all the guests and expressed his heartfelt thanks to all the arbitration colleagues for their longstanding support and assistance. Secretary General Wang Chengjie introduced to the guests that China Arbitration Week had been held for eleven consecutive years since 2013, and had become one of the most influential arbitration legal events in the international arena. This year’s China Arbitration Week extends from August 25 to mid-to-late September, with as many as 76 events held in 37 cities around the world, including Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Hong Kong, Paris, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Brussels, Vancouver, etc., which is the largest scale of the Arbitration Week, the most internationalized, and the most diversified in terms of themes in the past years. As an important part of the China Arbitration Week series of activities held on a regular basis every year, the China Arbitration Summit had been held for nine consecutive sessions, building one of the most influential communication platforms in the field of international commercial arbitration, and becoming a high-end platform for sharing the latest achievements in the development of arbitration theory and practice.
Mr. Mei Xiangrong, Founding Partner, Director, and Director of the Global Board of Directors of Yingke Law Firm, delivered a speech. He said that arbitration, as an important part of diversified dispute resolution, was of far-reaching significance to the prosperity of domestic and international trade and investment. Relevant activities under the China Arbitration Week are of great significance and value as they provided participants with excellent opportunities to exchange and discuss the latest developments in the field of arbitration.
The 2023 Arbitration Gala, as the first free exchange platform in the past three years with the theme of arbitration exchange and gathering distinguished figures from the domestic and international arbitration community, attracted the enthusiastic participation of arbitration industry insiders. Nearly 200 arbitration professionals from home and abroad exchanged and dialogued in a relaxed and warm atmosphere, were gathered to share professional insights and unique views, explored the path of international arbitration development in the new era, pooled their wisdom and strengths to promote the development of international arbitration, and shared the characteristics and charms of traditional Chinese culture. In this wonderful evening, the friendship between China and foreign countries had been promoted, the concept of jointly building the rule of law had been discussed in depth, and professionals in the arbitration community at home and abroad would unite and collaborate more closely to promote the development of the rule of law in international economy and trade, and to embrace the bright tomorrow of common destiny of mankind.
