China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC) provides professional and efficient construction project disputes review service for the parties at home and abroad according to its Construction Disputes Review Rules, to prevent, reduce and promptly resolve construction disputes. CIETAC maintains a List of Experts for Construction Disputes Review (List of Experts) which is a recommending list for the parties when considering their appointment of the Dispute Board Members. The duty of an expert for construction disputes review (expert) is to review the dispute arising from the performance of a construction contract, in accordance with the agreement of the parties to the construction contract referring their dispute to a Dispute Board for review and determination. The List of Experts is renewed every four years. The current term of the CIETAC listed experts will expire on 31 May 2023. The renewal arrangements of the CIETAC List of Experts are as follows:

I. Application Requirements

a. Devoted to dispute resolution, with a fair and impartial, upright and noble character;

b. Familiar with and willing to abide by the CIETAC Construction Disputes Review Rules and other relevant regulations;

c. Honest, diligent, prudent, efficient, and quick-learning, with strong oral and written communication capabilities;

d. Having acquired expertise and working experience in construction and related legal fields;

e. Those with experience on construction review and adjudication will be preferred;

f. Proficient in a foreign language and able to use it as a working language, and this requirement may be relaxed to some extent for a few well-known professionals;

g. Able to ensure sufficient time and energy for construction disputes review;

h. No record of criminal penalties, party disciplinary or professional disciplinary sanctions;

i. Not exceeding 65 years of age in principle (by 1 June 2023).

II. Submission of Application Materials

If you meet the above requirements and desire to be a CIETAC expert for construction disputes review, please download and fill in the Application Form (find the link below), and send your form with its attachment to the Email: adjudicators@cietac.org no later than 6 May 2023.

If you have any recommendation letters or other application-related materials, please send them together with your application form.

III. Application Review and Qualification Grant

CIETAC will review all the application materials, and grant the expert qualification to those applicants who pass the review based on its development needs. CIETAC will release its new List of Experts on 1 June 2023.
