During the visit to Sanya from March 27th to March 28th, 2024, Wang Chengjie, Deputy Director and Secretary General of the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC), and his delegation went to the Sanya Intellectual Property Protection Center (SIPPC) and the Sanya International Commercial Mediation Center (SICMC) to conduct researches and colloquia.

During the conversazione with SIPPC, Secretary General Wang Chengjie made a brief introduction on the theme of this research and the preliminary work of CIETAC and CIETAC Hainan Arbitration Center. He pointed out that the core of new quality productivity is innovation. Protecting intellectual property rights, promoting intellectual property dispute resolution, and facilitating the development of innovation have also been the focus of CIETAC's work. CIETAC has created conditions to serve the national major strategy of IPR protection in terms of institutions, teams and research. CIETAC established an IPR Arbitration Center in 2022 to specialize in handling IPR dispute-related cases, published the Annual Report on China International IPR Arbitration to deepen the relevant research work, and organized the IPR Dispute Resolution Forum to expand its influence. CIETAC has a rich reserve of arbitrators with professional background in intellectual property, who have handled a large number of cases involving intellectual property and domain name disputes, and have accumulated rich experience in practice. CIETAC Hainan Arbitration Center also signed a cooperation agreement with SIPPC in 2023. CIETAC is willing to strengthen the contact, enhance the understanding and mutual support with SIPPC.
Lu Fangjuan, member of the party group and deputy director of SIPPC, welcomed the arrival of Secretary General Wang Chengjie and his delegation. Deputy Director Lu Fangjuan introduced the establishment and development of SIPPC. She said, SIPPC is a national intellectual property institution, established with the approval of China National Intellectual Property Administration. The Center takes intellectual property examination and right confirmation business as its basic function, and has been awarded a number of national and provincial awards related to intellectual property protection. Hainan intellectual property dispute resolution market has great potential, and SIPPC hopes to establish a joint working mechanism with CIETAC Hainan Arbitration Center, to deepen the implementation of the cooperation agreement between the two sides, and jointly promote the protection of intellectual property rights in Hainan Free Trade Port (HFTP).

During the investigation of the SICMC, Secretary-General Wang Chengjie and his delegation learned in detail about the development of mediation in Sanya, the demand for mediation and diversified dispute resolution methods in Sanya market, as well as how to promote the high-quality development of dispute resolution-related systems and practices in Sanya. Both sides exchanged views on how to optimize the dispute resolution system, strengthen institutional management, enhance team building and how commercial mediation can play a better role.

During the visit, Secretary General Wang Chengjie and his delegation also went to Beijing Yingke (Sanya) Law Firm, Beijing Yinghe (Sanya) Law Firm and Hainan Tongxi Law Firm, and exchanged views with the relevant comrades in charge of the firms on the current situation of the legal service industry in Sanya, the special policies and the future prospects of the issues.
